What data is actually in Roy Data?
Your claim-free years are recorded in the Roy Data database. Claim-free years are the years during which you have not filed a claim with your insurer. For each claim-free year, you move up one step on the no-claims bonus ladder. The higher you climb on the no-claims bonus ladder, the greater the discount you receive on your premium. Whether or not you have claim-free years therefore makes a significant difference to your car insurance. By driving accident-free, you can build up a discount of between 70 and 80% with most insurers. That makes a significant difference in the monthly cost of car insurance.

Data in Roy Data is not always correct
The information in Roy Data isn’t always up to date. That’s because claim-free years aren’t recorded until an insurance policy ends. So, any claim-free years you’ve accumulated while your current car insurance policy is active haven’t been recorded yet. It is therefore possible that you have accumulated more claim-free years in the meantime than are listed in Roy Data. Have you already filed a claim with your new car insurance? If so, you may have dropped down the ladder and have fewer claim-free years. Please keep this in mind when requesting your Roy Data information.
How can I retrieve my data?
You can request your claim-free years for your current auto insurance policy from your current insurer. This information is not yet recorded in Roy Data. The insurer also always lists the number of claim-free years on the policy statement you receive annually. If you want to view your previous claim-free years, you can request them on the Stichting EPS website. To do this, use the right of access form. After submitting the form, it may take some time before you receive your claim-free years. In most cases, this takes a maximum of 28 days.
How can I adjust it if Roy Data is not correct?
Do you suspect that your information in Roy Data is incorrect? If so, you can contact the insurer that recorded these claim-free years in Roy Data. This is the insurer of the car insurance policy you most recently canceled. After consultation, the insurer can then correct the incorrect number. There is no point in contacting Stichting EPS about this. Stichting EPS cannot and is not authorized to adjust claim-free years. You must therefore always report incorrect information to the relevant insurer.
