All about van insurance
Are you looking for the best way to insure your delivery van? As a business owner, your delivery van is probably indispensable—especially if you use it every day to carry out your work. That’s why you can use Geennee.nl . While regular insurers often decline to insure delivery vans due to the increased risk of damage, you can always turn toDe Vereende.
Van insurance with van insurance
You can insure your delivery van with delivery van insurance. Delivery van insurance is a special type of insurance designed for delivery vans. A delivery van naturally differs from a passenger car, particularly in terms of its intended use. While a passenger car is designed to transport people, a delivery van is specifically designed to transport goods. That is why it also has a cargo area. This, in turn, entails different risks for an insurer. That is why a distinction is made between passenger car insurance and delivery van insurance. If the delivery van has a maximum loaded weight exceeding 3,500 kg, it is classified as a truck. Do you own a delivery van? We’d be happy to help you find the best delivery van insurance.
Why insure a van?
You are legally required to have at least third-party liability insurance for your delivery van. With third-party liability insurance for your delivery van, you are covered for damage you cause to others. This means that if you or an employee causes an accident with the delivery van, the other party can claim compensation from your auto insurance. Third-party liability insurance alone does not cover damage to your delivery van. For this, you must purchase comprehensive coverage, such as Third-Party Liability + Limited ComprehensiveorAll-Risk.
What does van insurance cover?
When insuring your delivery van, you can choose from three different coverage options:
- WA
- WA + Limited Casco
- All-risk
Third-party liability insurance for delivery vans is the minimum coverage you are required to purchase. This covers liability claims. However, you can also opt for more comprehensive coverage. A supplement to the mandatory third-party liability insurance is third-party liability plus limited comprehensive coverage. This covers damage to your delivery van caused by, among other things, fire, storm, theft, or broken windows. With third-party liability or third-party liability plus limited comprehensive coverage, damage to your delivery van caused by your own fault is not covered. For this, you must purchase comprehensive delivery van insurance. This is the most comprehensive insurance option.
Compare van insurance
Insuring a delivery van starts with comparing delivery van insurance policies. When you begin comparing, you’ll need to enter some information into our online comparison tool. Based on this information, we can provide you with a comprehensive comparison. The information required is as follows:
- Van registration number
- Report code; These are the last four digits of the chassis number
- Residence or place of business
- The date of birth of the regular driver
- What you'll use the delivery van for
- How many miles will you drive the van?
- Any accumulated claim-free years
Van insurance business
Do you use the van for your own business, do you have a company van, or does the van have a gray license plate? If so, you must insure your van for business use. Commercial use of a delivery van includes, for example, goods transport, courier services, paid passenger transport, a garage, a leasing company, or a driving school. If you use the delivery van exclusively for business purposes, you can apply for a“declaration of exclusive commercial use of a delivery van.”In that case, you are not permitted to use the delivery van for private purposes.
Van insurance private
Do you own a delivery van, but aren’t you a business owner, or is the van not listed in your company’s financial records? In that case, you’re using the van exclusively for personal purposes. You don’t need to insure the vehicle for business use and can take out a personal auto insurance policy. Commuting to and from work counts as private use of the vehicle. Even if you occasionally use the delivery van for business purposes, you can still indicate that you are driving for private purposes when taking out car insurance.
Van insurance ZZP
As a self-employed individual, you can purchase either personal or commercial van insurance. Even as a self-employed individual, you are required to have at least third-party liability insurance. You can also purchase additional coverage. If you purchase commercial van insurance, the van is registered in your company’s name. If you insure your delivery van as a private individual, it will be registered in your own name. Perhaps you’re a caterer and use your delivery van to transport food. Or maybe you work as a self-employed professional in construction and the van is mainly used to transport building materials. Whatever you use the van for, you naturally want to be properly insured.
Delivery van insurance courier service
Do you use your delivery van for courier services? If so, you can also insure your delivery van through Alpina.nl. Using a privately insured vehicle for courier services is cheaper under the insurance policy. However, we advise against it. After all, it remains to be seen whether the insurer will provide coverage in the event of damage. A major problem can arise if, in the event of damage, it turns out that the vehicle was used for purposes other than those covered by the policy. With ourcourier insurance, you can customize your (delivery) van insurance for courier services so that it perfectly fits your business situation.
Cheapest van insurance
Although the cost of a delivery van insurance policy through Vereende is higher than that of a standard delivery van insurance policy, the advantage is that you will almost always be accepted. Keep in mind, however, that you must pay the premium at least 3 months in advance. This also applies if you choose to pay monthly. In most cases, Vereende also charges a security deposit of €175. If you don’t pay the premium on time, Vereende may use this security deposit to offset the unpaid premium. If you pay on time every month, you’ll get the security deposit back when you cancel the insurance.
