Home Blacklisted insurance... Third party insurance with CIS registration

How can I get third-party insurance if I am on the "blacklist"?

To get straight to the point: the“blacklist”for insurers is a myth. There is no blacklist at all; what is meant here is a CIS registration. Your information is stored in the Stichting CIS database. Insurers and authorized agents can view your information when you apply for insurance. Based on this, they may deny you liability insurance. This is not because you are on a so-called “blacklist.”

It is legally required in the Netherlands to have liability insurance for your car. Do you have a CIS registration? If so, it can be difficult to obtain liability insurance from a standard insurance company. Fortunately, even with a CIS registration, you can always turn to the insurance company De Vereende. They specialize in high-risk cases and have a more flexible underwriting policy. That way, you’ll never have to drive without insurance.

Taking out third-party insurance: what does it cost with a CIS registration?

De Vereende Insurance does not have fixed premium rates. They assess each situation individually and provide customized quotes. The final cost depends on the vehicle you want to insure and your payment and claims history. There are, however, a number of costs to take into account, namely:

  • A higher premium than other insurance companies
  • You often have to pay three months' premiums in advance
  • In most cases, you'll pay a security deposit

A higher premium than other insurance companies

With insurers, the rule is always: the higher the risk, the higher the premium. De Vereende specializes in insuring special risks, which is why its premiums are higher than those of other insurance companies. At De Vereende, they broadly divide these higher risks into two groups:

  • The policyholder’s insurance history
The risk may lie in the policyholder’sinsurance history. For example, in cases of fraud, non-payment, a criminal record, or too many claims. This risk is actually related to your CIS registration. When the risk is often too high for a standard insurance company, you can still get insured with De Vereende.
  • High-risk properties
They also insure properties that pose a higher risk than usual, such as an MMBS vehicle. Other examples include motorized events or liability insurance for a tattoo shop.

Three months of premium paid in advance

When you take out insurance with De Vereende, you must pay three months’ premiums in advance. This applies even if you choose to pay monthly, rather than quarterly, semi-annually, or annually. This is because, when you take out the insurance, the bill for the following month may already have been sent to existing policyholders. As a new policyholder, you will not have received this invoice. To prevent being listed as a delinquent payer, you pay the first three months in advance. This also prevents any misunderstandings. After these three months, you can simply choose to pay the premium monthly.

A deposit

In most cases, you’ll need to pay a security deposit to de Vereende. de Vereende may use this security deposit if you don’t pay your premium on time. They’ll then apply it toward the outstanding premium. If you pay your premiums on time every month, you’ll simply get your security deposit back when the insurance policy ends.
